Angie L. Bass, MHA

President & CEO

Angie Bass was appointed as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Midwest Health Connection (MHC) in June 2016. Responsible for management and strategic direction for Missouri’s statewide health information exchange organization, Bass’s solid understanding of health care information technology, information exchange landscape and health policy gives her the broad perspective needed to expand the organization in services, products and customers.  Under Bass’s leadership, MHC has become one of the nation’s largest health information exchanges, covering a territory of more than 69 thousand square miles and more than 15 million patients in its network, enabling thousands of health care providers to have secure access to a real-time, comprehensive electronic patient health record.

Angie joined MHC in May 2012 as Program Manager and quickly rose in the ranks, becoming the Director of Client Relations and Business Development in the same year. In 2013, Bass was promoted again to COO and served as COO until her promotion to CEO in 2016. Prior to joining MHC, Bass worked as a Legislative Research Analyst in the Missouri House of Representatives for over five years. She was the sole staff analyst responsible for health care policy analysis and development, legislation and constituent management needs for 163 state representatives. Bass was the direct administrator for eight legislative committees, chairpersons and committee members. She also coordinated and facilitated legislative activities on behalf of representatives sponsoring health care and public assistance legislation. While working toward her Master of Health Administration at the University of Missouri, Bass was employed as an accountant with the Missouri Department of Mental Health. Bass brings nearly a decade of experience in health policy, administration and implementation to the organization.
