CMS Interoperability and Patient Access Rule Mandate



 

MHC can create digital contacts for providers to fulfill the new CMS mandate to improve interoperability.

All providers need digital contact information to meet the CMS Interoperability and Patient Access Rule, mandating a centralized directory of provider electronic addresses for data exchange to be published by the National Plan & Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) as part of the requirement to promote interoperability. For a nominal fee, MHC can help with this requirement by easily and quickly creating a digital contact for each provider that needs one.  The purpose of providing digital contact information is to improve interoperability and the efficiency and effectiveness of electronic health information exchange. The information is collected in NPPES to facilitate the electronic exchange of health care information such as Medical records, order and referrals, etc., in a safe and secure fashion.
